The three-day International Conference on Electronic Systems and Artificial Intelligence Applications (ICESAIA-2026) concluded in Hyderabad with experts calling for stronger indigenous space technologies and advanced security systems.
Dr. Anupam Sharma, Outstanding Scientist and Director of Special Projects at DRDO, warned that growing satellite activity, cyber threats, high-power lasers, and rendezvous and proximity operations have made space security a critical priority. He advocated for advanced Space Situational Awareness systems to identify, track, and assess satellite activities.
Sharma recommended using digital twin technology to simulate satellites before launch and urged reducing India’s satellite development cycle from four to six years down to 24 months. He called for future missions to adopt edge computing, photonics, neuromorphic sensing, self-healing satellite networks, and cyber-secure architectures.
The conference, jointly organized by Methodist College of Engineering and Technology and Stanley College of Engineering and Technology for Women with IEEE Hyderabad Section support, received 1,593 research papers from 11 countries. Of those, 162 were accepted after peer review and 155 were presented across 12 technical sessions.
“The goal is to secure space rather than dominate it,” Sharma said during his valedictory address.
