US and Five Eyes coalition space operators gathered at Vandenberg Space Force Base in late June to turn raw threat intelligence into warfighting tactics, the Space Force reported July 27. The Space Tactics Analysis Team Working Group 2026, known as SpaceTAT, ran June 24 through July 1 at US Space Forces Space headquarters.

Combat Forces Command spearheaded the event alongside staff from US Space Forces Space. Operators, system experts and intelligence professionals analyzed adversary tactics and developed defensive solutions aimed at ensuring potential adversaries cannot exploit vulnerabilities in the space domain.

“Space superiority begins with understanding the threat,” said Capt. Nathaniel Hlavin, an orbital warfare weapons officer with Mission Delta 9. “SpaceTAT transforms intelligence into warfighting tactics that give Guardians and our allies the operational advantage they need to deter aggression and, if necessary, fight and win.”

Teams presented their findings to senior leaders including Lt. Gen. Gregory Gagnon, Combat Forces Command commander, and Royal Canadian Air Force Maj. Gen. Kyle Paul, deputy Combined Joint Force Space Component commander. The analysis provides the tactical foundation for the annual Weapons and Tactics Conference, which equips Guardians and coalition partners to counter current threats.
