Voyager wins Space Force deal for space-to-space data links

Voyager will develop a flight-ready space-to-space communications waveform for the Space Force.

Voyager Technologies will build a flight-ready space-to-space communications waveform for the Space Force under a new Space Systems Command contract announced Aug. 10.

The award covers a waveform design able to operate across a variety of orbits, with specific weight, power and design-life requirements drawn from Space Force standards for space-to-space data links. Voyager will also run an on-orbit demonstration of the communications capability.

The work feeds the service’s push to advance space-to-space communications and strengthen proliferated low Earth orbit networks. Voyager leans on a track record spanning radiation-hardened electronics, precision RF payloads, and on-orbit hardware proven on past missions.

Matt Magana, president of Voyager’s Space, Defense and National Security unit, said the waveform under development will securely connect tactically linked spacecraft across every orbit, and argued that transparent pricing and commercial manufacturing capacity will matter as the Space Force scales its data network. The dollar value of the deal was not made public.
